Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15 in 1961) was an American actor. She has been recognized for her film and TV work since the 1980s. The awards she has won comprise two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was brought up in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt after being born at New York New York, is a well-known actress. Bassett along with her mother and sister moved to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was 5 years old. Their father had divorced their mother. Bassett was a fan of James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play when she was at high school and decided that she was an actor and was looking to pursue. The year was 1980 and Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in African American studies. She was also awarded a degree by the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, another actress from Yale and they got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Bachelor of Arts (Afro-American Studies) in the year 1980.
